Jessica Simpson’s father reportedly wants to save Britney Spears’ career.

Joe Simpson, who manages both his daughters Jessica and Ashlee, is considering helping Britney following her wild partying and spell in rehab.

Joe, a former Baptist minister, even attempted to meet Britney last weekend in a bid to convince her to hire him.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: “While some might fear a diva-like rivalry between Jessica and Britney, Jessica would be OK with the arrangement and even offered to put out a call to Britney, as the two are no longer competitors.”

Jessica and Ashlee are clearly happy having their father as a manager.

Jessica’s representative Cindi Berger has denied Joe tried to contact Britney to arrange a meeting.

Jessica will be following in Angelina Jolie’s footsteps later this month when she lobbies members of Congress on behalf of a children’s charity. Jessica will head to Washington, D.C., to speak with lawmakers about Operation Smile, an organization that provides surgery for children with facial abnormalities.

Jessica visited Africa last year as a guest of the charity group. A source close to the organization confirms, “She’s in the phase of her life now where she wants to use her celebrity for good. She’s flying in on her own dime. This is her Angelina moment.”

A report set for publication in this week’s edition of ‘The Star’ will detail that Jessica was dumped by Adam with a cell phone text message.

Reportedly, the weekly has this item set: Adam Levine lets Jessica know it’s over – with a few short taps on his keypad that said “Really busy. Need Space.”

It all started when Levine blew-off their Valentine’s Day date as Jess pressured him for answers. It took a while to sink in and when it did, she told her best friend, “I just got dumped.” And by text message, no less. Ouch!

A report in February from Star Magazine details a “loud and wild night” that Jessica spent with Jude Lawat the Chateau Marmont hotel.

This week’s edition the Star, says the Law is hot on Jess and she is “being deluged by a flood of e-mails, phone calls and text messages” from the star.

“A friend of Simpson” says, “Jude is telling Jess that he ‘hungers for her’ and that he goes to sleep ‘dreaming about her lips, her smell and her laugh’

It’s a little corny, but Jessica is loving it,” the insider claims.

Jess is convinced that tabloids reports concerning her and Johnny Knoxville helped fuel rumours that her marriage to Nick Lachey was in trouble.

She has branded the press as cruel and says she now believes that everyone is out to ‘get her’: “It’s so cruel and I just try not to let it affect me, whatever everybody was thinking about me. If I did, I don’t think I’d be here now.

“I can’t save anything from being talked about because then it becomes this game, and it’s not a fun game. I feel like everybody’s always out to get me, and that’s a weird feeling.”

And her marriage break up:
“I never wanted to let anybody down. But then you just have to realise that if you’re not happy, you can’t make anybody else happy.

“When you walk away and there’s no gravitational pull, then you know you’re doing the right thing.”

Jessica, who is currently filming her new movie in the state of New Mexico, was honored at a special dinner with the state’s governor on Thursday night, reports People magazine.

Gov. Bill Richardson and his wife Barbara hosted Jessica and her parents, Joe and Tina, at the governor’s mansion.

Jessica’s dad Joe, who serves as one of the producers, said of his daughter’s role: “This time she’s not a sex kitten … she’s a cashier at Wal-Mart – it’s a good change.”

People reports that Jessica wore a lavender leather jacket and tight jeans to the dinner and was also joined by her costar, Dane Cook.

Jessica will earn a whopping $1,240-per-word in her new film, according to a new media report. Jess picks up a cool $1 million for new movie Employee of the Month, according to In Touch. Her character will utter a mere 806 words throughout the comedy.

The plot has two “dorky” employees vying for the coveted title when they hear that the gorgeous new checker played by Jessica, who prefers ambitious men, might be inclined to date an “Employee of the Month.”
